Reflexology is a natural, holistic therapy in which points on the feet correspond to organs, systems and structures throughout the body.
A reflex is when stimulation at a point on the foot brings about a response in another area of the body.
Reflexology is an ancient healing art working on the principle that the feet and the hands are a mirror image of the whole body and that applied pressure can restore any areas of imbalance.
Using the thumb and fingers, usually on the feet, all organs, glands and parts of the body are affected and helped to function properly.
It is believed that energy, chi (likened to blood or lymph) must circulate throughout the body's systems for health and well being.
An imbalance causes illness. Good health depends on the natural balance of the body systems equilibrium.
The stress of every day life disturbs this balance and reflexology alleviates the effects of stress by inducing deep relaxation and allowing the nervous system to function more normally.
Circulation proceeds smoothly, blood and lymph flow is improved and oxygen and nutrients are carried more efficiently to all cells.
Because of this healing takes place, and a feeling of calm and well being are experienced.
It's not always possible to do a reflexology treatment on the feet. Reflexology on the hands, although not as common, is just as effective as performing a treatment on the feet.
The obvious difference is that the hands are a different shape to the feet, but the principles are the same.
Please ask if you'd prefer a reflexology session on your hands rather than on your feet or if you'd like a combined hand and foot reflexology session.

A menopause reflexology session helps by regulating hormones and glandular functions. It can help to balance both physical and emotional systems.
There are specific reflexes that can be given extra attention which may help common menopausal symptoms.
The effects of reflexology are cumulative so a course of treatments is often more beneficial.
For example, 4 to 6 weekly or fortnightly sessions followed by "maintenance" sessions every 4 to 6 weeks.
